World Correspondence Chess Championship 2010- Preliminary Sections

The start date is 10 March 2010

 

 

 

Those players that fulfill some of the following requirements are entitled to start a WCCC PR tournament section:

 

1.1.1        The following will reach a full qualification to enter a Preliminary section:

  • (a) the participants in one of the previous or running Candidates' Tournaments who have scored at least 40% of the possible points if they have not earned a higher qualification.
  • (b) the participants in the previous or running Semi-Finals who scored at least 50% of the possible points, if they have not earned a higher qualification.
  • (d) winners of ICCF World Tournaments – Master class.
  • (h) those players, who are entered through their own national organisation and at the time of nomination have ratings less than 2400 (fixed or unfixed).
  • (i) The holders of the International Master Title with a rating above 2300.
  • (j) the holders of the Senior International Master Title with a rating above 2250.
  • (k) the holders of the Grandmaster Title.
  • (l) Any player with a rating of 2500 and above.
     

It is mandatory that the qualification right under Tournament Rules 1.1 should be specified for each entry!

Normally a Preliminary section will consist of 13 participants with the possibility for the TTC to extend them to 15 or 17 players if appropriate in special situations.

 

 

Players entering more than one section will be accepted only to fill vacancies.

Note: Please be advised that preparing the proper pairings for this event takes a lot of time and effort.  No player will know who their opponents are until the pairing list is distributed prior to the event.  Should a player receive the pairing list, yet withdraw from the event before the start of the tournament without a valid reason, the player may be subject to an ICCF suspension for a minimum of six-months.  This suspension would include all events currently being played by the player.  This does not overrule normal withdrawal procedures as specified in ICCF rules.

If the number of the entries won’t be a multiple of 13, the players who have been entered according to point 1.1.1.k  and who have the lowest ICCF ELO rating won’t be admitted to the Preliminaries.

Games played in these events are rated for the ICCF rating list.

The Preliminaries (PR) of the 34th World Correspondence Chess Championship shall start on the same day and only once in 2010. The WCCC PR tournaments fall under the responsibility and organization of the ICCF Title Tournaments Commissioner, Mr. Marco Caressa (
