How to Record Results for an Event

Principle

The system allows a range of results, including 1-0, 0-1, ½-½, 0-0, and other codes reflecting adjudicated, defaulted (single and double), null and/or cancelled games.

Practice

  1. The system automatically detects results in certain cases and only for server events, including:

    - checkmate is given.
    - stalemate is reached.
    - the Resign button is clicked.
    - the Accept Draw button is clicked.

  2. Players need to claim a result from the TD in other cases, including:

    - time forfeits.
    - no moves in 40 days.
    - repetition of position.
    - adjudication date reached.
    - 50 moves without capture or pawn move.

  3. In non-server events, the results need to be entered by the TD or TO.

  4. The cross-table of non-server events contains a link "Edit result", visible only to the TD or TO.

  5. The Edit result screen allows to select two players from two drop down lists (sorted alphabetically). If the selected pairing already exists, the existing result is displayed for editing. If the selected pairing does not exist yet, in a single round robin it is checked if the opposite pairing exists. In case it does, the pairing is displayed for editing. If it does not, the pairing is created. This also works for team events and team matches.

  6. Changing evaluated results (results that have been included in a previous rating report). If the TD/TO changes a result that has already been evaluated, a warning is displayed before the change is made. If the result is changed anyway, a message is sent to the Rating Commissioner (RC). The RC can then access a list of all the games, where the result was changed after evaluation (left hand menu "Changed results"). He can then select a game on the list, and confirm that he has re-evaluated the result.

  7. The TD may award results in some cases, including:

    - disputes between players.
    - misconduct of a player or team.
    - neither player active.

  8. To award or set results:

    - select Event List/Event/Control/Game, then the TD menu, and Set Result.
    - select the result from the drop-down menu and click OK or Cancel.

Webserver Actions

The system updates the game score and cross-table automatically. This occurs regardless of whether the new result is recorded automatically by the system or manually by the TD.
