How to Use Direct Entry

Principle

The ICCF Direct Entry (DE) Programme is designed to attract more new players to ICCF and make it easier and quicker for existing players to enter tournaments.

Practice

  1. First, navigate to the ICCF Webserver Home Page at http://www.iccf-webchess.com
  2. Select System/New events. Tournaments labeled with "DE" are available for Direct Entry.
  3. Click on the name of the tournament you are considering entering and read the Qualifications and restrictions. You may also see the qualifications by hovering over the Enter button.
  4. If you meet the qualifications and restrictions, then click on the Enter button located on the far right of the tournament line.
  5. Fill out the Event entry form and press the "next" button.
  6. You will be presented two options: Register via national federation will create an email message to your National Federation (NF) delegate and you will have to wait for a response, or Register by Direct Entry which will take you to the next screen.
  7. Select the currency in which to pay the entry fee. Presently we offer payment options in 5 different currencies and a variety of credit cards. Acceptance varies depending on which country the payment originates. Select your preferred currency and click "Next".
  8. You will have a chance to review your order- if everything is correct; click the PayPal (our payment processor) button.
  9. You will be sent to the (external) PayPal site, where you will have the opportunity to pay the entry fee. If you do not have a PayPal account, you can set one up quite easily by following the instructions.
  10. Your entry may be declined if: a) Your payment amount was incorrect. b) You did not meet the tournament qualifications or restrictions, or; c) If you are on the ICCF suspension list.
  11. Players from countries that have chosen the Standard Direct Entry option may only enter two (2) tournaments per year using Direct Entry before being required to enter through their national federation. You may review the option your country has chosen here.
  12. If your application is accepted, you will be contacted by the ICCF Direct Entry Officer and the Tournament Organizer when ready.
